I'm Tona, that you already know, and today we're diving into a topic that's been on my mind lately and I'm sure it might've been on yours it's consistency. But before we get into that, let me share a little story from my own life that really brought this lesson home.

Speaker 1:

For me, summer around here is the time for a slightly slower pace. Friends and family get togethers, trips to new places and festivals almost every weekend, where it's hard to determine where you want to go. Recently in our household, my nephew and niece, who are eight and six, came to visit us for a couple of weeks. My husband and I decided to throw a small barbecue for the family in our newly renovated backyard. Barbecue for the family in our newly renovated backyard, complete with flowers, a patio table and a wonderful comfortable patio set nestled under a beautiful shade tree. It was the perfect setting for some summer fun. We decided to play cornhole, which we had just bought. We decided to play cornhole, which we had just bought, with the kids on the patio because you know it would be fun. As we were playing, my nephew was doing really well. He kept scoring all the points, but my niece not so much. She couldn't quite score any points and get those little beanbags into those holes. Frustrated, she said she didn't want to play anymore because she wasn't good at it. I told her it's okay that you're not good as you want to be right now. This is your first time playing. Give yourself some grace. You know, if you consistently practice, you'll get better.

Speaker 1:

The word that struck out to me was consistency. Isn't this what we fail to do with our own brands all the time? We don't consistently put out the posts that you've worked so long to put together. We don't consistently send the emails or consistently show up on video so our audience can see us. This is where I have specifically fallen short, especially with the podcast. Trying to get on a consistent schedule to put out the content that you want to hear has been a challenge, with all of the various things that go on in the summer with different priorities taking precedent over the podcast. It can become a challenge to put out a podcast consistently, even though I know it's very important to do so. But let's talk about why consistency is so crucial for your brand. Here are three important reasons why you need to stay consistent with your brand.

Speaker 1:

Did you know that if you don't put out material constantly, either through an email or a post on social media, people will forget about you? Man, that reminds me of when I started podcasting with my husband and we were on top of things. We were making sure that we were putting out a podcast every single let's say, week at the time, or at least once or twice a month, but we were consistently on a regimen and on schedule. I would look at the analytics all the time and I would see the same individuals showing up listening from the same places, and that made me feel good that people were actually listening in those places and they were actually getting something from the podcast. But then we moved into our new home and when that happened, our schedule had totally changed. We took a year break and none of those same individuals that used to listen they weren't listening anymore. It was a new crop of listeners, but it wasn't the same and it feels like they probably forgot that we even existed because we took such a long time to combat.

Speaker 1:

And in our fast-paced digital world, out of sight really can mean out of mind. If you're not consistently showing up, your audience can easily move on to someone who is, you know, being consistent also helps you to become more confident. The more you practice, the better you get. Just like with my niece with cornhole the more you show up for your brand, the more confident you become in your messaging and delivery. If she will continue to practice, she will get better at making those shots and making those scores that count. People will also trust you more as the expert when they see you show up. Often, consistency builds that trust. Like with Google Eat remember that podcast. Like with Google Eat remember that podcast. When your audience knows that they can rely on you to provide value regularly, they see you as an authority in your field. So there you have it.

Speaker 1:

My niece's struggle with cornhole taught me a valuable lesson about consistency and I hope it inspires you too. Let's recommit to showing up for our brands consistently, even when it's tough. Remember every bit of effort counts and over time you'll see the growth and connection you're aiming for. And I say all this to say that I'm not trying to tell you to show up in all these places every single day, 24-7, but find a schedule that works for you, that you can actually commit to. It will definitely help. If this inspired you to be more consistent, let me know by sending me an email at tona at haywoodsvscom, or if this message resonated with you, please let me know through that same email, because I love hearing from my listeners. Now, until next time, don't forget to stay consistent.
